DNCC: Sen. Hillary Clinton

Chelsea Clinton introduces Senator Clinton. The place is going nuts with Hillary signs. And yes, even some bloggers are on their feet.

"I'm here as a proud mother, a proud Democrat, a proud Senator from New York, a proud American and a proud supporter of Barack Obama."

Update [2008-8-26 22:49:8 by Todd Beeton]:

The time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose.

We are on the same team and none of us can afford to sit on the sidelines. This is a fight for the future and this is a fight that we must win together.

Update [2008-8-26 22:49:8 by Todd Beeton]:

No way. No how, No McCain.

Barack Obama is my candidate and he must be our president.

Update [2008-8-26 22:50:17 by Todd Beeton]:A dude way up and to the right just yelled "I love you!" and many cheers let out through the hall.

Update [2008-8-26 23:3:57 by Todd Beeton]:Hillary is directing this to her supporters who are threatening to support McCain and there's a bit of anger in her voice...in a good way:

Those are the reasons I ran for president and that is the reason I support Barack Obama. Were you in it for me or were you in it for that young Marine...or were you in it for that young boy and his mom surviving on the minimum wage...were you in it for those who are invisible.

Update [2008-8-26 23:3:57 by Todd Beeton]:

I can not wait to see Barack Obama sign into law a healthcare plan that covers every single American.
The place is going nuts.

Update [2008-8-26 23:3:57 by Todd Beeton]:

It makes sense that George Bush and John McCain are going to be together next week in the twin cities because these days, it's hard to tell them apart.

Line of the night?

Update [2008-8-26 23:10:38 by Todd Beeton]:Holy crap. When she spoke of Harriet Tubman's advice: "Keep going!" that was the moment of the night. It resonated on so many levels. It defines America. It defines how Hillary ran her race.

Great speech (2.00 / 1)

It's great to see Democrats going after Republicans again. We spent too much time fighting amongst ourselves, it's great to see Hillary restore order to the universe.

It's a lot more fun watching her go after McCain instead of Obama.

No way, no how, no McCain!

Love it!

I expect to keep hearing her hitting these notes all the way up to the election. Barack's issues are her issues, and hers are his, and combined they're ours.

We had two great candidates in the primary. The shame has always been that only one could win, in the end. But that doesn't diminish the other.

Great speech. Great job. Great woman.

The media likes cohesive "stories" and I hope the "story" the media takes away from tonight is that the Democratic Party is "unified" "again."  It's impossible to justify this PUMA nonsense after that speech, absolutely impossible.

I'm sitting here stunned.  I was so worried it would be a moribund speech, but... wow.  That was the absolutely opposite of moribund.

That wasn't Clinton doing it because she had to - that was Clinton doing it because she cared, because she had a passion for it.

She couldn't have done it any better. She made it clear that this election is not about her, but about America. America needs Barack Obama as President.

I did not get to see her speech! I have to wait for reruns and talking heads!  AAHHHH!   :)

Watch it online in HD without the talking heads.

It's much better this way.

AND THE ASSHAT SPEAKS! That didn't take long. What would've done the job for him? Should she have come out wearing an Obama t-shirt and button and just screamed OBAMA OBAMA OBAMA for 45 minutes?

Re: Bill Kristol from IdiotFox TV claiming this wa (2.00 / 2)

Then she wouldn't have been attacking John McCain, which would be a tacit endorsement of his presidency.

Re: Bill Kristol from IdiotFox TV claiming this wa (none / 0)

True enough. Maybe the shouting should have included McCain is the Devil, Obama, Obama, Obama, McCain is the devil.
Only, she should have said it backwards. So subliminally it would have registered more deeply.
Oh, by the way, Pat Buchanan is the silver medal winner in the 'quickest asshat' contest after the speech. He was trying to say that Hillary STILL only cares about herself, and Hillary supporters ONLY love Hillary and don't care about issues.

And the media will find three PUMAs sitting in an IHOP off I-70 30 miles out of town who will claim that the speach told them to vote for McCain and that is how the media will spin it for three days.

CNN and FOX are going to do everything they can to spin this in such a way to make Hillary, Obama and all Democrats look bad, so they can get their celebutard McLame elected.

Even NBC is doing their part by having McLame on Leno last night.

man, that's some sad shit right there.

The weird thing is that she posted a concall where she spoke to Sen. Clinton where she sounded like she sincerely respected the Senator.  And hear she is providing FOX the talking points they will use to accuse Sen Clinton of lying...

Re: LOL....why am I not surprised? (none / 0)

I feel kind of sorry for alegre. She was once a passionate and reasonable supporter of Clinton. I disagreed with her, but her arguments were at least reasonable and well thought out. It's really depressing to see that she has completely lost her mind.
It's kind of like the feeling I got when we needed to ship my coke-head friend off to rehab and then back to his parent's basement. We missed him, and it was sad that he went too far over the edge for us to help him.
Here's tips for alegre's sanity.

Re: DNCC: Sen. Hillary Clinton (none / 0)

The actual response from McCain's camp:

She didn't change her assessment that Obama isn't experienced.

As Olbermann noted, she didn't, but she did say the entire world would be destroyed if we elected McCain. One can infer the meaning.

Re: DNCC: Sen. Hillary Clinton (none / 0)

MOJO'd for telling the truth.
If I work hard and dredge up ONE complaint about her speech (and that takes some effort, because it was fantastic) it was that she didn't work Obama specifically quite enough. She spoke about electing a democrat, but not why Obama was the RIGHT democrat. She did hit his biography, but just for a minute. Again, this is an extraordinarily MINOR nit, so no hate posts, okay? It's a very, VERY minor criticism, but I'm sure that Fox News will spend a week on it.

donating to Clinton (2.00 / 3)

hey I was just wondering if it is still possible to help Clinton retire her debt.  I'll admit she pissed the hell out of me during the primaries, but she was picture perfect tonite.  It took a lot of courage and selflessness to do what she did.  Let's put the primary non sense behind us...

anyway, can I still donate, and what webiste do I use (HillaryClinton.com doesn't seem to be responding)

Re: donating to Clinton (2.00 / 1)

I would imagine that a lot of people are donating to help her pay down her debt. HillaryClinton.com is the website.

Remarkable (2.00 / 3)

Sen. Clinton is amazing.  Great speech, great tone, great substance, great all the way around.

Candidate Obama needs Sen. Clinton.

President Obama will need her even more.

Her influence in Congress and contributions to our nation will be much, much greater with Sen. Obama in the White House than McCain.

(Schweitzer rocks the house, too)

Re: DNCC: Sen. Hillary Clinton (2.00 / 2)

A few thoughts...

Great Speech... Maddow and Olbermann are GUSHING about it.

THAT should be the bounce... We will see it Thursday morning in the Tracking polls (since tommorrow's poll will be about Monday... hope Michelle moved some people as well).

If former supporters don't move to Obama now, then chances are it isn't going to happen or will be a last second decision to switch.

I'll be curious to see how many viewers tonight.

Re: DNCC: Sen. Hillary Clinton (2.00 / 1)

If Bills speech tommorrow is in that same tone, if Biden's speech rocks and then Obama does his Obama Speech thing, I think we see a big bounce.  I still think Obama should plan a rally in Ohio or another swing state at the same time McCain speaks.  Blow his speech OUT OF THE WATER... Serve the SOB right for all the crap he is pulling this week.  We need to strike back hard.

Pat Buchanan is an asshat (none / 0)

Pat Buchanan is rattling on about how Hillary supporters won't change their mind, because Hillary supporters only love Hillary and don't care about the platform. Also, Hillary only cares about herself.
Meanwhile, there's a GIANT crowd of Hillary supporters behind him shouting him down, while Rachel Maddow informs the asshat that the democratic platform is the most pro-woman platform in the history of American politics.
And he says that doesn't matter.
And he gets shouted down by the mob holding Hillary signs.
Hilarious.

Re:I loved her shout out to Bill... (none / 0)

...when she said "We know how to do this, we did it with President Clinton."  Bill was beaming, and hanging on her every word, just like everyone else in the hall. I'd love to  know what was going through his head as he listened.

She's become an outstanding speaker.   She's an asset to our party, no question.

If she'd given a speech like that during the primaries, I might have had a hard decision to make in the primaries.
